What is TGT ?

TGT stands for Trained Graduate Teacher. It is a teaching position in India that requires a bachelor's degree in a specific subject and a degree in education (B.Ed). TGT teachers typically teach students in classes 6-10 in secondary schools.

To become a TGT teacher, one typically needs to:

• Hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
• Complete a B.Ed degree or equivalent teacher training program.

• (a) Diet and Nutrition : Concept of nutrition, composition and functions of diet, recommended diet, classification of food groups and their sources, nutrition, deficiency diseases, food preparation, food preservation and adulteration, diet for patients of various diseases like fever, typhoid, ulcers, diabetes, kidney and heart diseases. Structure of human body, digestion, absorption and metabolism of food, general chemistry.
• (b) Home Management : Meaning and definition of home management, family resources, family budget, management of time, energy and money, decision making, goals, values and norms, family needs, work simplification, saving, and interior and exterior decoration, home and family machinery.
• (c) Health : Meaning and definition of health, individual health and hygiene, Government and non-government organisations working in the field of health, importance of environment for health, environmental pollution, water and air borne diseases as health hazards, principles of primary health care, common family accidents and their treatment, use of different types of bandages.
• (d) Child Development : Growth and development of children, mortality and morbidity of children, school health, marriage and family.
• (e) Textiles and readymade garments, classification of fibres and their chemistry, design and decoration of garments, dyeing and washing of clothes, selection of clothing for different occasions and different seasons and their manufacture.
• (f) Extension education : Meaning of home science, definition, history, scope, various branches of home science and their interrelationship, need of extension teacher, subject area and philosophy, various methods of extension, community development.

What is PGT ?

PGT stands for Post Graduate Teacher. A PGT is a teacher who has completed a postgraduate degree (Master's degree) in a specific subject and is qualified to teach students in higher secondary classes (typically classes 11 and 12).

The role of a PGT involves:

• Teaching students in higher secondary classes
• Delivering lectures and conducting classes
• Assessing student progress and performance
• Providing guidance and support to students

To become a PGT, one typically needs to:

• Hold a postgraduate degree (MA, MSc, MCom, etc.) in a relevant subject
• Complete a B.Ed degree or equivalent teacher training program
• Pass a teacher recruitment exam, such as the CTET or a state-level exam
